The Topacz Castle Resort & Art SPA together with the Motorisation Museum launch the PayEye payment. This is the first such complex in the world where iris biometrics can be used to confirm payments. “Returning to full operation also means opening up to new technologies,” admit the managers of the four-star facility.
A huge 50-hectare area surrounding a four-star hotel with conference facilities. There are also conference and banqueting rooms, restaurants and a spa & wellness centre. This is how the Lower Silesian Topacz Castle looks like these days. A unique place which, after lockdown, opens up to visitors and also to… biometric technological innovations.
“Innovation, openness to new solutions or even staying ahead of trends are in our DNA. We operate in the vicinity of Wrocław, where PayEye originated and where the world’s first pilot of eye payments is conducted, so we also wanted to test this solution at home. We are delighted to be among the places taking part in this unique project ,” says Andreas Wierus, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Topacz Castle, and he says that he still remembers his first encounter with biometrics. “In the early 2000s, when I landed at Dubai airport, where all passengers were verified by eye ID-based registration, I felt the first ‘wow’ effect. And today I am implementing a biometrics-based solution in a facility I manage.
A total of five eye payment devices are available at the reception, restaurant and Art&SPA of Topacz Castle, as well as the Polana Bar and the Motorisation Museum.
“Topacz Castle and the Motorisation Museum are the first places of their kind in the world where eye payments can be made. I am convinced that guests of the hotel, restaurant, spas and museum will enjoy using a solution that is extremely fast, safe and also virtually touch-free. Topacz Castle joins the group of nearly 130 PayEye partners where payments can be made with the eye. It is a unique group of people who allow us to develop payment using iris biometrics ,” says Krystian Kulczycki, CEO of PayEye, and adds: “Today, few people remember the moment when payment organisations worked to implement the first payment cards in the world. At the time, these were as pioneering projects that were tested on a limited group of people and places before becoming commonplace. We are conducting our pilot on a large scale. Therefore, it is a good opportunity to thank the partners for the credit of trust, but also for their willingness to participate in the only such project in the world.
Topacz Castle is a unique place with a fascinating history dating back to the 14th century. It combines the atmosphere of a castle with modern luxury and comfort dedicated to the most demanding guests. Luxurious, comfortable rooms and suits with a unique atmosphere are located in six renovated buildings. The main part of the our resort is the castle building.A restaurant and an ART SPA zone have been designed in its historic interiors. An outdoor recreation area, Polana Bar, has been created. All this on a land of over 50 hectares with a garden and a pond.
The biggest attraction is the Motorisation Museum, which has a full collection of Polish-made vehicles, both pre-war and from the decades of the People’s Republic of Poland. Also on display are automotive milestones and unique vehicles from luxury brands.
PayEye is a Polish fintech with global reach, which, as the first in the world, has taken on the enormous challenge of implementing iris-based biometric payments for commercial use. The first phase of the project is being piloted in Wrocław and surrounding cities and towns and is available in nearly 130 locations. In subsequent stages, the project will be available in major cities and towns in Poland, Europe and the world.
Using eye payments is very simple. All you need to do is download and install the PayEye app on your phone from the AppStore, Google Play or Huawei Gallery, and then register a free account. On your first visit to any point with PayEye payment capability, your biometric pattern is created. From now on, you can pay with the eye – conveniently, securely and without restrictions.
