The first ski resort in the world where you pay with… your eyes

The ski resort in Machnice — a place well known to skiing enthusiasts from Wrocław and its surroundings — launches payments with the eye. Snow and Ski Machnice will be the first ski resort in Poland, the first in the world and the 100th partner with the innovative iris payment system from fintech PayEye. Following the relaxing of government restrictions, the facility is due to open to skiers as early as this Friday, 12 February.

“The phone has been ringing since the first snowfall and, like the skiers, we can’t wait to reopen. We are doing our best to be ready for Friday. In addition, we have prepared a complete novelty -– an eye payment. We liked the idea very much, and we believe that it is an ideal solution for our ski slope guests. Skiers have enough equipment with them and looking for cash, or a card to pay is often a problem. Now it will definitely be easier for them because they will not have to remember these things. You could say that they will pay with one look,” says Emilia Ptak, co-owner of the facility in Machnice.

Snow and Ski Machnice offers two ski slopes and the possibility of night skiing until 10 p.m., a ski school and a restaurant — now selling takeaway meals. And all this is only 15 km from the borders of Wrocław in Machnice, in the district of Trzebnica. A surprise awaits skiers who take advantage of the eye payment. Besides, registering online at payeye.com will allow you to benefit from a refund for your first eye transaction of up to PLN 50, while you are already on the slopes.

“Eye payment is convenience, security and choice. Forgetting cash or having a dead phone is no longer a problem. Ski enthusiasts want complete freedom, and that’s exactly what the payeye idea we brought to life was all about. Today we already have 100 locations on the map of Wrocław and its surroundings where you can make eye payments, and this is not the end,” says Krystian Kulczycki, President of PayEye.

PayEye launched eye biometrics for commercial use in payments at the end of June 2020. Today in Wrocław and its surroundings, you can pay with your eye, among others, in restaurants and cafés, grocery shops and delicatessens. Service outlets, petrol stations and car washes are also on the list, and the sports and leisure industry is also strongly present.

Some of the places that have attracted the most interest, where the eye payment system has recently appeared, include Wrocław’s Aquapark, the ice rink at the Wrocław Stadium, or AC Hotel Wrocław, which operates as part of the world’s largest international hotel chain, Marriott International.
