The only castle and museum in the world to be conquered… with the eye

The Topacz Castle Resort & Art SPA together with the Motorisation Museum launch the PayEye payment. This is the first such complex in the world where iris biometrics can be used to confirm payments. “Returning to full operation also means opening up to new technologies,” admit the managers of the four-star facility.

A huge 50-hectare area surrounding a four-star hotel with conference facilities. There are also conference and banqueting rooms, restaurants and a spa & wellness centre. This is how the Lower Silesian Topacz Castle looks like these days. A unique place which, after lockdown, opens up to visitors and also to… biometric technological innovations.

“Innovation, openness to new solutions or even staying ahead of trends are in our DNA. We operate in the vicinity of Wrocław, where PayEye originated and where the world’s first pilot of eye payments is conducted, so we also wanted to test this solution at home. We are delighted to be among the places taking part in this unique project ,” says Andreas Wierus, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Topacz Castle, and he says that he still remembers his first encounter with biometrics. “In the early 2000s, when I landed at Dubai airport, where all passengers were verified by eye ID-based registration, I felt the first ‘wow’ effect. And today I am implementing a biometrics-based solution in a facility I manage.

A total of five eye payment devices are available at the reception, restaurant and Art&SPA of Topacz Castle, as well as the Polana Bar and the Motorisation Museum.

“Topacz Castle and the Motorisation Museum are the first places of their kind in the world where eye payments can be made. I am convinced that guests of the hotel, restaurant, spas and museum will enjoy using a solution that is extremely fast, safe and also virtually touch-free. Topacz Castle joins the group of nearly 130 PayEye partners where payments can be made with the eye. It is a unique group of people who allow us to develop payment using iris biometrics ,” says Krystian Kulczycki, CEO of PayEye, and adds: “Today, few people remember the moment when payment organisations worked to implement the first payment cards in the world. At the time, these were as pioneering projects that were tested on a limited group of people and places before becoming commonplace. We are conducting our pilot on a large scale. Therefore, it is a good opportunity to thank the partners for the credit of trust, but also for their willingness to participate in the only such project in the world.
